Mission Team Chicago accepted and met the challenge of raising $100,000 over 5 years to create an endowment fund in honor of Fr. George Scoulas, of blessed memory. This fund provides an annual scholarship for one seminarian to participate in an Orthodox Christian Mission Center short-term mission team. The fund is administered by the OCMC.

The area of missions was very important to Fr. George. He was the first spiritual leader of Mission Team Chicago, a long-time national board member of the OCMC and also led a short-term OCMC mission team. Furthermore, since the seminary education of our future clergy and church leaders was so important to Fr. George, this endowment appropriately brings together these two ministries about which he cared so deeply.

This endowment has been developed as part of a comprehensive strategic plan and Capital Campaign initiated by the OCMC. Its purpose is to educate future clergy and church leaders of America on the necessity and importance of missions.
